Precious Moments Storybook Bible

The Precious Moments Storybook Bible is a wonderful gift for a young child that is sure to please. The print is large and the pictures are fantastic. The stories, cant be beat...straight out of the Bible! What a wonderful way to get young kids engaged in Biblical interest! kids want to learn about God, thats innate. This book is a great way to charge forward with them and help them ground their faith in visual confirmation, which young readers both need and enjoy. This bible brings the stories out of the bible to life and the book really is wonderful. If you have been struggling with a gift idea, no child is too young for this book; it really is great! i would not gift it to anyone above the age of like 8 -- but from birth to 8, ok, from 1 year to 6, its a target find. From age 3 to 5 it would be ideal. You cant waste your time with this book; its a wonderful addition to building a treasured collection that will incresase a childs understanding of God and how God loves us. What better purpose can a book have?

Invasion by Jon Lewis

The author does a fine job setting up a sci fi story line but then he drops the ball on character development and plot development. The story arc is flawed in several places BUT ive seen much worse go tothe top of the charts because kids like fast action and this book has that. It reads like a cross between the motion pictures WANTED and the BOURNE series. Lots of action, lots of futuristic technology, and a hint of RESIDENT EVIL like corporate power out of a company called Trident. If you have a teen who enjoys reading, this book is ok, but I think the writer might be a tad schizo, due to all the mind control hogwash. People prefer differnt story lines. Please understand that I am a die hard Star Trek, fan and everything else falls below par. On a good point, it is well edited and easy to read and fast paced. A teenager could call it pretty good use of time to spend a few hours curled up with this book.

On This Day In Christian History by Robert Morgan

This author is becoming my favorite author, ahead of Max Lucado because of books like this book. He is not the most creative writer but he pulls out facts and makes wonderful straight line conclusions which are factual not speculative based.
Some books feel like the writer is trying to talk the reader into something that they think..thats not my favorite type. Robert Morgan, instead, presents facts and points out trends and Historical data. His work is work and its inspirational.
This book is the perfect gift for someone who feels like the world at large is propaganda and publicity based because it will give them Christian inspiration without leaving them feeling like they are being influenced.

Illegals by Darrell Ankarlo

Illegals The Unacceptable Cost of Americas Failure To Control Its Borders by Darrell Ankarlo

Well, if you enjoy reading about the old West, you will sure enjoy this book. The author is very passionate and one sided in his opinions. He seems to ignore that there are any other problems in the USA and implies that if we police our borders we could literally wipe out crime in America. makes me wonder if he has ever spent time in any of the other states. i understand that gangs are a big problem in the cities and poverty is a very real problem in the South. But no one problem can account for all of Americas troubles. The author is a radio talk show host, and comes across as such in his book. i think that he is at least a responsible writer, and hes trying to improve our society...but he thinks illegal immigration is our number one proble, and i disagree. our number one problem is our economy because that is a problem that affects every state, not just a few on the border. The only way we will ever be free of illegal immigration concerns is for Mexico to become a self supporting Nation, like Canada. We have never had a problem with Canadians illegally running into America. Frankly, with the state of the USA as it is; I wonder if Canada is beginning to have a problem with USA illegal immigrants.
If you really want to know what I think the author is really up to; its selling pot.
his entire case evolves around the hugh bales of pot the agents constantly seize in Arizona coming illegally from Mexico. it is a very short line in the sand to see that we can remove all their power by making pot legal. i think that is where the author is really going, he just doesnt want to come out and say that...and for the record I think the USA will soon make pot legal, Ive accepted that, but I think its a bad idea. Yes, it will likely solve our economic crisis from the tax generated, but we will have the same kind of problems that we now face with alcohol addiction. I am aware that people say pot is not addictive but I doubt that is true.

Transforming Church in Rural America by Odell

Save your money.
I knew if I reviewed books long enough I would run across one that I would not enjoy and this one was that book.
Some people will enjoy this book but I found it awful.
he makes assertions that he assumes from his 'luck' or 'experience' and doesnot give God the credit.
If you want to read a good book on church transformation try Changing Your Church For Good, also by Thomas Nelson publishing.
The author here lumps all Southern pastors into a negative catergory and I didnt like his slant from start to finish.
he makes a remark that a pastor is under the scope if his kids make poor jokes and then he goes on to tell of a couple in him church who were playing adult games and were injured and had to be rescued while the man was unconcious in a Superman suit while his wife was hand cuffed to the bed.
From that point to the end of the book I had to really work to finish it. i give this book ZERO out of 5 stars.

Big Red Holy Bible Contempary 3 D Art by Thomas Nelson Publishing

Children are going to love this Bible. The art is really fantastic and it is written in a way that children can easily comprehend. The pages jump out because the art work is so wonderful. Someone should have thought of this a long time ago: children need colorful images and simple words to help them and to motivate them and make them excited about God and getting to know Jesus.

The art is excellent 3D work and I think children will really be encouraged to turn the page, if nothing else just looking at the art work will entertain them and at least get them thinking abut Jesus. This Bible will make a great Christmas gift or birthday present for any child upto 12 years old. I might go as high as 14 years of age just because the art work really is fantastic and children are very visually stimulated. I am all in favor of anything that brings children closer to God and I believe this bible will be an excellent motivator.

Seeds of Turmoil by B Wright

Seeds of Turmoil by B Wright

Well, when someone is Wright, they are Wright.
I should have written out my thoughts because the author has clearly taken a lot of the same classes on religion.
Let me nutshell this book: the trouble goes all the way back to Abraham.
Sara or Hagar, which son of Abraham? Theres your conflict point.
The author makes everything crystal clear and simple to grasp: if you are at all concerned about whats going on right now in the Middle East, you really need to read this book: because then you will really wonder why the Christians and Muslims and Jews are fighting each other in the first place. I really dont want to side on this one because the Bible says only the anti-christ will bring peace to the Middle East.

Playing favorites

We all do it, play favorites, I mean. Sometimes we fail to realize but we always pick a favorite. my favorite may not be the best but it is the best to me.
For example, who is your favorite prophet? moses who stood up to the most powerful man alive (The Pharoah of Egypt)or maybe Abraham who was willing to sacrifice his own son. I could write a long list because the Bible is full of amazing people who were still very Human.
My pick is Daniel
I will tell you why, tomorrow.

How Should A Christian Live?

How Should Christians Live?
Reader Rating See Detailed Ratings
Posted 04/08/10: Thomas Nelson developed a four part series on Biblical study. I received a copy of the third book titled, How Should A Christian Live? This one is written as a devotional journal of the New Testament books of 1 Corinthians through Philemon. There are scripture citings to support the teachings offered from the New Testament and a journaling section at the end of each chapter. The book is written in a dozen chapters. The focus of the book is to teach the kids how to live in a way that will please God and each chapter comes with games to play to help reinforce the lesson. It would make a good projest text for a small group of teens working towards deeping their relationship with God. This book, and I cannot speak for the other books in the series, but this one came with an MP3cd. The book is written for teenagers and I think they will enjoy this read. (This book was provided by Thomas Nelson Inc in exchange for an impartial review as part of the BookSneeze Program for bloggers.)
