Globequake by Wallace Henley

We live in a hard time. Priests molesting boys, gay rights, abortion as birth control: we really should have stayed in the garden. Who can we trust, and how can we ensure the safety of our kids in this day and age? Pray, turn to God. If you need more comfort than that, pick up a copy of this book because thats what its all about. I loved the way he began one chapter by talking about how when he was in 2nd grade he would get school credit for attending Sunday School - that was 1948. I can recall the same treatment in 1974. Things began to change in the 1960s, according to the author and I agree. We have gotten away from Gods vision for us, the author says. He may be right. His last section is on Hope. I loved it very much. He opened with Romans 5:5 "Hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us." He advocates for rolling up the sleeves instead of taking the easy road. If you are scared, this book will make you feel better. The man has written over 20 books and worked as a reporter, editor and at the White House as well as worked in 20 Countries. Basically, the book is about how to keep your shirt on while people are losing their minds; I could just tell you that its by remembering Gods Word and keeping on that armor of God but you need to read the book to get the context and understanding. Hes a great writer; give it a try.

The Searchers by Loconte

Publisher has this to say about the book...'Never before had they known such hope. In a world drenched in violence and oppression, here was a man armed with a message of peace and freedom. Into lives nearly overwhelmed by grief and sorrow, he brought compassion, healing and the deepest joy. To people who felt like outcasts, aliens, he showed the way home. And then, in one devastating night, all their hopes collapsed. This is where our story begins—in the valley of despair. It is a tale of two friends, a stranger, and a search for truth in a world gone mad with doubt. Historian Joseph Loconte unlocks the meaning of their exchange, set in the chaotic days following the execution of Jesus of Nazareth. Drawing from literature, film, philosophy, history, and politics, Loconte shows how this biblical drama is an integral part of our own story. Sooner or later, we will find ourselves among the searchers.' I received a free copy for a review. This is a great book for the educated mind. Well written, and very scholarly - exactly what a retelling of Luke should be...you know Luke, Biblical Luke, ...the doctor - who else would his audience be but the educated and elite. How fitting this book be written by a scholar as well. It is packed, packed, packed full of info and facts. Each chapter reads like a volume of hope. I loved this book. Everyone feels the burn of hopelessness sometimes. This is a must have book for everyone.

What You Need To Know About Bible Prophecy by Max Anders

Here's what the book says about itself: What You Need to Know About Bible Prophecy 12 Lessons That Can Change Your Life By Max Anders Published by Thomas Nelson '...The What You Need to Know About series is made up of ten 12-lesson study guides. The ten books in the series together form a “Basic Knowledge” program. Features include: * 12 lessons that can be completed in under 1 hour each * Real-life application of biblical truth * Explanations of prominent Christian views on each topic * Easy-to-teach lessons, including previews and summary features * Questions for discussion * Core teachings on Christianity that will challenge any seeker, new believer, or veteran believer looking for a stronger foundation...' I received the book free from the publisher in exchange for a review. If you think a free book make a good review, then read on. I did not like this book and I wont read the others in the series. The writer is way to wishy-washy and seems to be afraid to stand on either side of the fence. I think he is trying to hard to be political which does not work especially when considering that he is writing a book about faith...where he should be tossing in his 2 cents. Want your 10 bucks to make a difference in your life? Toss it in the collection plate and pass on this book. God will reward you, He honestly will. This book wont.
